fashion 💗 friday – All Things Pink!

Today’s fashion 💗 friday is not one that I was planning but somehow came together for what I know will be a repeat outfit in the future! In the colder months, I typically reach for neutral colors – black, white, greys, creams – but today, this bright pink tee popped out at me and I knew it was just what I need to put some brightness in this cold chilly weather! One look at my jewelry rack and I knew I had to pair it with this necklace. The lavender and light pink look so pretty against the dark pink backdrop! And really…anything *PINK* puts me in a good mood! The muted taupe color of these boots goes perfectly with this outfit to soften up the bold colors.

And some days, I match my breakfast to my outfit! 🙂 Nothing like a yummy superfood shake to go with your pink cheery outfit!

Hope you all are having a GREAT FRIDAY!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I know, I know…it’s January 11th and I’m just NOW wishing you a happy new year. I’ve been on a bit of a blogging hiatus but have decided I’m ready to come back and MAKE IT A PRIORITY in 2017.

2016 has been one of the most difficult years of my LIFE. Trust, patience and strength were all greatly tested but I am happy to say that I have come into the new year with a newfound purpose + drive. When blogging took a backseat, it wasn’t by choice. It was because I knew deep down my priorities weren’t straight – and I had to get them aligned again.

As you know, I am an online health + fitness coach and although I absolutely LOVE what I do, it still gets under my skin a little when I talk to clients and ask them what the #1 thing is that’s holding them back from reaching their goals. Their response:

But if you’re being honest with yourself, let’s think about that for a minute. The reality is, if you were hit with a hard deadline knowing that you had a limited amount of TIME to reach XYZ, you would BUST YOUR TAIL in order to make sure you hit that deadline. Hear me out for a sec:

▶️️ If you knew you were being laid off from your job and had no other source of income, you would BUST YOUR BUTT to find another job ASAP
▶️️ If you knew you had a limited amount of time with a loved one, you would do EVERYTHING you could to spend time with them and comfort them in their final days
▶️️ If you signed up for a triathlon but didn’t know how to swim, you would make SURE to take lessons and learn before race day

The fact of the matter is, you’re busy. We’ll all busy. I get it. But when you have a deadline, all of the sudden have a sense of URGENCY to GET 💩 DONE. But without that deadline, you procrastinate and put things off. Let’s take a poll:

❔How many times a day do you scroll FB or IG?
❔Do you have a favorite show that just started again? #Bachelor #ThisIsUs anyone?
❔How many times did you hit snooze this morning?

The next time you think, “I DON’T HAVE TIME” to work on your goals, try saying, “IT’S NOT A PRIORITY” and see how that feels.

What have you said, “I don’t have time” for? Is it something you want to make a priority in 2017? Would love to hear your comments below!

The Perfect Grilled Sandwich!

Eating clean doesn’t mean you have to spend a ton of $$ or take a long time to prepare!  Some of the simplest things can be made clean just by making a few modifications.  Growing up in a Korean family, I grew up eating rice.  Rice for breakfast, rice for lunch and rice for dinner.  Soup and rice.  Fried rice.  Rice with seaweed.  Rice and (if you’re Asian, you know…) Spam.  Rice with water (moolbap).  Rice and kimchee + other side dishes.  I was never really exposed to American food so needless to say, when I got to grade school, I thought the school pizza bought in the cafeteria lunch line was the best thing earth (anyone else remember this rectangular block of cheesy-heart-attack-waiting-to-happen?  Do they still serve that stuff???).

Costco Fashion?

As a mom of three, Costco is place I frequent more often than I’d like.  We all go there for essentials like toilet paper, napkins, baby wipes (my kids aren’t in diapers anymore but admit it, who else uses these for quick, easy cleanup???).  And we also go there for bulk food like cheese, tortillas, ground meat (tacos anyone?) and other food items.  So when my MIL gifted me a pair of lounge pants from Costco for Christmas one year, I admit, I made fun saying it was such an “old person thing” to buy clothes from Costco.

Giddy Up! Cowboy Salsa!

With the school year starting, the BBQ invites are slowing down and you’re likely starting to get back into a regular routine after a summer of packed schedules and summer cookouts.  I have a 1st grader this year which means I have a new responsibility of packing lunches every day.  Well, let’s just say that after the first few days of lunches that returned home the way they were packed, I had some hungry kids after school that couldn’t wait until dinnertime.  This Cowboy Salsa is not only a great after school snack to hold little ones over until dinnertime, but it’s also perfect for the last of those summer BBQ’s and get togethers!  It’s PACKED with veggies which makes it healthy and other than chopping the veggies, takes NO time to prep!  That’s MY kind of potluck dish!  For those of you that have hungry kids after school or that last minute BBQ you forgot to prep for, this dish is perfect for you!

Prep Time: 10 min.

  • 3 large tomatoes (diced)
  • 1 can corn (drained)
  • 1 can black beans (rinsed & drained)
  • 1 can black eyes peas (rinsed & drained)
  • 1/2 red onion (diced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 cup zesty Italian dressing
  • Sea salt & pepper to taste

In a bowl, combine all ingredients.  If you have time, refrigerate for a couple hours but okay to take and serve freshly made as well. Flavors will combine as time passes.  Serve with whole grain tortilla chips or other chip variety.  (Juanita’s chips are my weakness and to be honest, fall into the 80/20 plan when implementing a clean eating plan!)

Life By Design

A lot of people have asked me why I am a fitness coach.  Between a husband, 3 kids, a full time job and trying to keep up with my own workouts, don’t I have enough on my plate?  My response to them is simple.  YES.  I do have enough on my plate.  But the way I see it, I only have one life to live and at the end of the day, I would rather my plate be overflowing than empty.  Ultimately, I want to live a life by design.  By my own terms.  In my own time.  may not be easy but it will be worth it Read more

AERO Active – Hot Pink!

I don’t know about you but I LOVE sweats. I mean, I LOVE them!  The minute I get home from work, I change into something more comfy.  I probably own over 30 pair of sweats and I refuse to get rid of any of them!  (Thank goodness my hubby still loves me!)  There’s something cozy about them and even in the summertime, you’ll often find me in lounge pants (which I refer to as “sweats” as well).  When I started working out regularly (read about My Story), I quickly found that sweats were not the best for jumping, lunges, well…anything else other than lounging around in!  I also found that when I wore cute workout clothes, it changed something mentally and made me workout harder!  I’m not complaining because that gave me an excuse to go shopping and I’m sure my hubby didn’t mind that I wasn’t lounging around in frumpy sweats anymore!

With 3 little ones, I don’t have a chance to go shopping very often but this summer, we had the opportunity to send them to the in-law’s which meant lots of jogs after work, random movie nights and even the occasional shopping trip!  One afternoon, I went to  Seattle Premium Outlets in Marysville to do a little retail therapy!hotpink Read more
